64th Annual Vinton Dogwood Festival - Uptown Funk

Friday April 26, 2019
Vinton Farmers Market
6 PM - 10 PM

Uptown Funk is an energetic and fun band bringing great dance and listening music to the Festival stage.

The Vinton Dogwood Festival itself opens with a Carnival Midway, providing entertainment for kids and adults alike. Live entertainment is held nightly.

Dogwood Saturday features a 5K run/walk, craft, food and retail vendors, entertainment stages, a free Kids' Zone, the crowning of the Vinton Dogwood Festival Queen, and much more. The annual Dogwood Festival Parade steps-off at 2:30 p.m. at the Vinton War Memorial, and the Carnival Midway stays open until 11 p.m.

In 1956, the Vinton Band Boosters saw the need for new uniforms for the William Byrd High School band. To finance the project, the band boosters sold small dogwood trees. The idea caught on and fun-loving Vintonites parlayed the sale of dogwoods into a community project that culminated into a festival. The following year, Vinton Town Council and the town citizens decided to make it an annual event. For more than six decades, the Vinton Dogwood Festival has prospered, and Vinton has played host to ever-growing crowds.
