The German-trained brewer Seibei Nakagawa first brewed Sapporo, the oldest beer brand in Japan, in 1876. Sapporo Premium was brought to the U.S. in 1964, and in 1984, Sapporo U.S.A., Inc. was founded. Sapporo soon established its status as the number one selling Asian beer in the United States, and today beer connoisseurs across the country enjoy three varieties of the brand: Sapporo Premium, Sapporo Reserve, and Sapporo Premium Light.
