Four nuanced fermentations. Aged, sequestered, in select rye whiskey & wine casks. Ergo a stoically brewed quad, with the spellbinding complexity of its medieval ancestors. (Released April 2015)
After twelve years of brewing our special Reserve Series beers, we know they get better over time. It’s why these brews receive a “best after” date on the label. They are the perfect beers for craft beer lovers to stow away!
The Stoic 2015 is a great example of how these dynamic beers change in the bottle. Previously subtle aromas and flavors capture your attention, while other assertive notes recede to the background, much like a song where the musicians take turns in the spotlight.
Our brewers tasted The Stoic in December of 2016. They reported The Stoic sang a beautiful medley of pears, spiced apple, fruit, wine, “good wood”, very light tartness, some alcohol, and aged flavors of leather and pineapple. We can’t wait to see what happens in another twelve months. Yummm….

As a family and employee-owned brewery, Deschutes believes every pint of beer worth brewing is worth sharing—with friends, family, and even the stranger you just met on the barstool next to you.
And every Deschutes Brewery pint shared has a healthy dose of community, experimentation, and ingenuity. It’s crafted with plenty of balance and drinkability and invested with quality and consistency.
This is not us waxing poetic. This has been the blueprint of Deschutes’ DNA since our modest beginnings in 1988 as a small public house in downtown Bend, all the way through to the present.
We invite you to explore all that our beers have to offer, here in the digital space, and in person, at our Pubs, and at our events. We think it should be an extraordinary experience no matter where you visit us.
