Named after a San Francisco sailing legend from a time when stouts were first exported to the West Coast. Our stout is a dry, Irish-style export stout akin to those brewed in the 1800s for the long voyage to San Francisco. Black as night, this high-gravity, malty brew offers intense but well-balanced flavors and aroma, with hints of dark chocolate and roasted coffee. 7.4%
America’s first craft brewery took shape during the Gold Rush, when German Gottlieb Brekle transformed a beer-and-billiards saloon into a brewery in 1871. Today, as one of the most traditional breweries in America, Anchor continues to produce beer handmade from an all-malt mash in their traditional copper brewhouse. Beers such as Liberty Ale, Anchor Porter, and Anchor Steam Beer are known and appreciated throughout the world.
